Glove & Thumb Patterns

Clute pattern glove is sewn with seams on the back of the glove. In addition, seams are exposed in the palm of the glove at every finger and the straight thumb.  The pattern is very comfortable due to its construction; however, with the exposed seams may not be as durable. The clute pattern normally is used to make cotton gloves.

Gunn pattern is a very durable glove pattern, yet not quite as comfortable as the clute. Leather gloves use the gunn pattern featuring fully wrapped thumb and index finger, leather fingertips, leather knuckle strap, wing thumb, shirred elastic back along with the continuous pull tab. Particularly effective in leather palm gloves, because leather on the front of fingers extends two thirds of the way around each finger, eliminating exposed seams in palm wear area.

Reversible pattern are glove generally made from a jersey cotton material. The 2-piece pattern features a single seam around the entire outer edge of the glove. A separate cuff or knitwrist completes the construction. The reversible glove allows the wearer to wear the glove on either hand and eliminates the need to select a right or left hand. In addition, when thumb or palm wears out, glove can be switched to the other hand.

 Thumb Patterns

Straight thumb lies straight with the index finger and is found on cotton, jersey and leather drivers.
Wing thumb gets its name from its placement and appearance, angling the thumb diagonally across the palm. Very durable thumb pattern and commonly found on leather palm gloves.
Keystone is an inset thumb on full leather driver’s gloves. Provides greater flexibility, additional wear and comfort.
